Freight usually takes 1 to 2 days following pick up from our North or South Island depots.

If this not quick enough for your needs, Mainfreight allows us to request urgency at an extra cost of $50. This should ensure that your consignment is delivered in 1 to 2 days.

Once your consignment reaches the local depot, Mainfreight will contact you either by email or phone to arrange a time for delivery. It is important if you are waiting for the delivery that you keep track of you emails and missed calls, because if Mainfreight cannot get hold of you, they are not able to schedule your delivery.

You are able to pick up from the depot if that suits you, make sure that you let them know that this is what you want when they call.

Saturday deliveries and pick ups are possible but need to be organised in plenty of time. Saturday deliveries or pick ups are $50 extra, as someone will have to come in to the depot specially for you.

If you choose the Flat Pack option, you will be sent all the tools that you need to assemble the coffin and a comprehensive set of instructions. You can also  refer to the videos at the bottom of the homepage where you can watch a coffin being assembled. 

If you choose the fully assembled option we will assemble your coffin and fit handles and any linings that you have specified.

Coffin lids, sides and ends can all be carved, depending on the wishes of the customer.

Any pattern can be used, but it would normally be the pattern of the Iwi or Hapu of the deceased.

Customer will have to supply samples of the pattern to Carried Away at the time of order. 

Carving can take up to 3 weeks to complete, so early decision making is important.

Every coffin comes with an absorbent lining. This collects any discharge from the body and prevents any possible staining from coming through to the exterior of the coffin

The decorative linings are a " nice to have" extra, particularly if a viewing or open coffin is planned. It is not a requirement and can be omitted entirely if you like. Linings come in Unbleached Calico, Bleached Calico and Satin. The lining folds over the raw edge of the coffin for viewing and is folded inside when the lid is finally placed on the coffin.

Each coffin has a: "Hard" pillow which is under the absorbent lining. This allows the head to sit in a more natural position. The soft pillow is purely decorative and may be omitted completely if desired.

The top sheet is designed to come up to chest level and is tucked in under the occupant. It is entirely optional and a favourite blanket or flag can be used for this purpose if desired.
